Newsflash

SEASON UPDATE

It has been an unusually cold Florida winter. However, so far there are no signs that it has adversely affected the mango crop.

Lychee availability may be limited due to bloom damage from a hail storm but there should still be a crop.

It Begins with Variety

There are two reasons our tropicals are so delicious. Erickson Farm fruits, vegetables, and leaf products are 1) farm fresh and 2) from carefully selected plants. Choosing the right variety ensures that you get the best possible experience every time you eat Erickson Farm produce. After researching different varieties, or cultivars, we plant a sample of each right here on the farm so we can see and taste the product when grown in our soil and climate. This process can be very time consuming, especially when dealing with tropical fruit trees. It may take 10 years or more from the time we plant the first mango test trees to when the new variety comes to market.

Actual dates and availability depend heavily on the weather. For example, a January freeze can result in loss of papaya, carambola, and curry leaves.
