Ripe Mango Season 2024
Mango season is running later this year than it has in a while. It is not a good year for mangos in Florida. We are fortunate to have a lot of trees and a limited crop on our main premium varieties. For those of you who love Southern Blush it is a good year; it’s the best they have looked in a while. It is very likely that varieties may sell out before they even come into season. So do not hesitate to lock in your orders for the variety(s) that you are most craving. Right now we’re estimating the season will last 7 or 8 weeks. Of course, weather will be the primary factor in determining the actual length of the season.

VARIETIES
We ship one Classic and four Premium varieties. The Classic Tommy Atkins is the quintessential old Florida mango. It is a heavy and consistent producer and non susceptible to many of the challenges of the other varieties. The Premium varieties are our little divas. They can be a challenge to grow with the insects and diseases currently threatening the mango industry. But they have amazing flavor, they have little to no fiber and we think they are worth the extra effort. The Pickering had a very small crop and are limited to the Sampler plans. Southern Blush follow midseason. Kent is late season and the Keitts are always the very last of the year. As the various varieties do not reach their peak at the same time you will need to choose which variety you want to try. If you want to try them all we do offer Sampler Plans at a discount.
If you are interested in one of the later varieties go ahead and order soon. It is anticipated that multiple varieties will sell out before their ship date.

PACKAGE SIZES
Our three primary package sizes remain the same. Flat rate shipping proved to be a significant savings for all last year. The cost of UPS Ground is included in the pricing. If the delivery address is more than 3 days transit time then an expedited shipping method will be required or the order will be cancelled. Please review the UPS map on the item page to determine your best option. Price adjustments are minor and reflect changes in shipping costs.
The large bushel box has been discontinued as it no longer offers any advantages. The per pound price is less expensive for two (2) Double cartons and the packaging is more protective ensuring better quality fruit on arrival.

SHIPPING
UPS Ground shipping is the default and is included in the pricing. Mangos ship mature but green and start to ripen in transit. Up to 3 days in transit is not a problem. This way they arrive while they are still firm and can finish ripening up in your care and avoid the bruising that would occur if they were still in transit.
If your delivery address is in an area with 4 or more days transit time you will need to select an expedited shipping method. In most cases 3 Day Select is the most cost effective option.
We also offer 2nd Day Air and Next Day Air Saver as options. Reducing the days in transit never creates a problem but be aware they will still need those days to ripen for eating.
Next Day Air Saver is not available to all addresses and we are not notified that it is not an option to any given shipping address until the system is actually told to process the label. It is rare, but if this occurs the shipping will automatically be adjusted to 2nd Day Air and the difference in cost will be refunded.
SAMPLER & MANGO LOVERS CLUB
Sampler packages consist of multiple shipments. Each are available in both the Personal and Single package sizes. The Variety Samplers are a total of 5 shipments including all of our varieties. The Premium Samplers are a total of 4 shipments this year including just the premium varieties. We do our best to space out these shipments as the season allows.
The Mango Lovers Club is for those of you who want to receive a shipment every week. We can customize the package sizes and the varieties shipped. For example if the Kent variety is your favorite we will send you those as many weeks as they are available and fit in the other varieties you like around those. Some years we are able to include a special shipment or two of a new and unique variety. This year most of those varieties did not produce very well so that might not be possible. To enroll in the Mango Lovers Club you need to do so over the phone.
